Our Angel on Earth
Mom went
to be with the Lord
Although
she didn't want us to be alone.
On that
night she was fighting so hard
She
looked and said, “I just want to go home.”
So with us by her side that night
The Lord
looked down to see.
“I know
you are tired my daughter,
Why
don’t you come and be with Me.”
Now she
lives in a beautiful place
Where
there are no appointments to keep,
Her only
priority for all of her days
Is to
praise at Jesus’ feet.
Mama, we
honor your life today
Not many
could have walked the path you trod.
We know
you are happy --- probably with the horses
Living
in the Holy presence of God.
For the
time that God gave you to us
We will
cherish those memories clear.
Our
selfishness will sometimes get in the way
Wishing
that with us you were still here.
Mom, we
love you and we will get through
As we
wait for each new day to begin.
And the
comfort we have to help us along
Is
knowing that we’ll see you again.
Robin Hurlbut Barnhart
Frances Jolene (Sebesta) Hurlbut
October 10, 1943 –
February 4, 2011
Fran was born in Ellsworth, Kansas, and resided
in Wilson, Kansas, until she left for Salina to attend Brown Mackie College
in 1961. There, she met a young man named Larry Hurlbut who stole her heart
and she married him a year later. Larry and Fran planned their wedding date
for September 30, 1962, but decided to elope the night before. So, on
September 29th, they met with a preacher and two witnesses, and
became husband and wife.
Larry and Fran worked side-by-side running a milk
route, owning a pool hall (“Larry and Fran’s Recreation”), and owning and
operating a grocery store in Luray, Kansas. In 1967, they moved to Salina
when Larry began his career with Gooch Feed Mill at which time Fran took on
the full-time role of housewife and mother, raising two children—Robin and
Bryan. When her kids were in school full time, Fran decided to start
selling Avon and was a representative for over 25 years.
The most important date in her life was the day
in October of 1980 when she accepted God’s gift of grace by inviting Jesus
into her life as her Savior. She was instrumental in leading her entire
family into a relationship with the Lord Jesus, and she was comforted
knowing that all of her family chose to give their lives to Christ, resting
in the truth that her family would be together again in Jesus’ kingdom.
In 1983, she again worked side-by-side with her
husband when they opened and operated Heaven’s Workshop: a Christian
bookstore in Salina, Kansas, and she enjoyed sharing her faith in Jesus,
being a witness for Jesus Christ.
Fran was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and
sister. She was, and is, loved, and never had reason to doubt this fact
because she was told daily. Although Fran is not with us here on earth, her
being with the Lord is the perfect beginning to the end of a faith-filled
life.
